U.S. Defense Secretary Makes Unannounced Visit to Kyiv

He says the U.S. will continue to stand with Ukraine.

Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin arrived in Ukraine Monday to highlight U.S. support for Ukraine as the world is distracted by the Israel-Hamas war. Secretary Austin traveled to Kyiv by train from Poland and has meetings scheduled with President Zelensky, the Ukrainian defense minister, and its chief of staff.

Secretary Austin stated, “I’m here today to deliver an important message—the United States will continue to stand with Ukraine in their fight for freedom against Russian aggression, both now and into the future.”

Some members of Congress are growing less enthusiastic about sending additional money and weapons to Ukraine. The continuing resolution passed before the Thanksgiving recess did not include more assistance for Ukraine.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For wisdom for members of Congress when they reconvene to take up appropriations for the fiscal year.
  • For the House speaker and Senate majority and minority leaders as they negotiate what to allot to foreign aid.
